Thomasena Benally learned to cook and make traditional Navajo foods from her beloved grandmother as a child. Some of her most poignant memories are about cooking and learning the traditions of when certain types of food should be made throughout the year. Blue corn dumplings are made in the winter, blue corn mush is made the rest of the year. She enjoys cooking and teaching others how to make food.
