In this workshop participants will carve and print their own “exquisite corpse” using block printing techniques. Traditionally an exquisite corpse is made by three different artists each creating either a head, torso, or legs that come together to create an imagined creature. In this case, each person will create blocks in sets of three- a head, a torso, and legs, and then share them with the group to create a variety of different creatures.
Everyone will learn how to carve, ink, and print their blocks onto both paper and textiles by hand and on a press. All materials will be provided and participants will leave with their own carving tool, blocks, and printed shirt with their favorite “exquisite corpse” combination.
